Peter Jones is a Grade II listed department store of the John Lewis Partnership. Occupying an entire city block, the store’s six buildings encapsulate over 80 years of changing attitudes to retail architecture. The refurbishment of the store’s 20th century façades aim was to reveal and express the building’s significant heritage through the extensive use of colour.
AMS’s versatility in offering bespoke solutions aided the realisation of the architect’s vision which needed to accommodate the existing building conditions. Most of these details were unknown until the time of installation.
Therefore, the main challenge we faced was to achieve consistent building lines that could overcome the undulations of the structure whilst maintaining the unique building footprint that the department store has become known for
If you can visit the store, whilst you may not find a bargain to suit your budget, you will be able to witness the expert craftmanship of the Architectural Metal Features for free
